Andreas Weber

Andreas Weber is a biologist, philosopher, and nature writer, a leader in the emerging school of biopoetics and biosemiotics. He is lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts, Visiting Professor at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy and holds an Adjunct Professorship at the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati, India. Andreas argues that all living beings, like humans, are not biological machines but living, creative agents fuelled by meaning and expression. His most recent books include The Biology of Wonder: Aliveness, Feeling and the Metamorphosis of Science (2016); Matter and Desire: An Erotic Ecology (2017); Enlivenment. Toward a Poetics for the Anthropocene (2019); and Sharing Life: The ecopolitics of reciprocity (2020).
