So much human conversation takes place at a superficial level. I'm not surprised that someone with your depth might feel alone. By sharing your experience as you have in this beautiful piece, you open a path for others to discover their own depths.
What a beautiful story. It reminds me of a local walk I did, speaking into my phone, recording my grief about my father who passed. As my conversation closed a magpie landed on the path next to me. Then four more magpies arrived. It felt like being held. Then a bicyclist arrived and said, “I hate to break up the party”
Thank you for sharing. You are loved by River and Kin... they just wanted you to know that they know about your broken heart. The Implicit order enfolds you....
Thank you for this piece of poetry. It is very relatable for me, although I do not have animal companions. Partly because I want to remain free, partly because I fear my heart would break when they die. But I have come to form a sort of totemism, although I did not receive my totem at birth. So, I can full support what Professor Anne Poelina says: we become fully human by interacting with wider than-human life forms.
