A wonderful article that brings together much of what I have been reading on this site, over the last 6 months. What does Dave mean by, ‘vision quest mind’? I don’t know that I have seen this in any of the other articles or responses.

Glad you like this one! 'Vision Quest Mind' Dave's idiosyncratic term for the experience of being part of the whole that can emerge during a vision quest. We all find our own ways of talking about this quality: others speak of 'lifting the veil', for example. P

My guess is it was an ontopoetic response. I have found that when the river 'gurgles back to me' (rather than just regular gurgle noises) my heart somehow lifts, and even leaps with a moment of joy. It's a highlight of my visits there. It's a bit like when I suddenly hear certain birdsong in the garden.
